Re: [lojban] 'Solve & coagula' in lojban?

Hi,

{la} grammatically functions in a fashion almost identical to the way
in which {lo} and {le} act, which might give the impression that is
has the same gloss. However, {la} usually... disappears when you
translate jbo->en: {la. djan. klama lo zarci} -> "John goes to the
store." {la} is required to signal the following construct, be it a
selbri or a cmevla-string, as a name, rather than a real description,
as is the case with {lo}: {mi dunda lo plise la plise} -> "I give an
apple to Apple."

Alternatively, you could paint a regular bridi on the boat, and then
refer to the boat using an appropriate la-description. For example,
paint {jatna ro xamsi} "[It's the] master of all the seas." on the
boat, and then presumably refer to the boat with {la rolxamsi jatna}
"All-seas Master".
