Nah, it's a "serious problem" that we experience with alarming frequency in IRC. "I was going to X" usually means that in the past, "I" intended to X, but didn't. I was {ba'o pu'o da'i broda} for that, but some just use {ba'o pu'o broda} or {pu pu'o broda}.
