Clapping, shaking hands, and waving are ancient. When Don Richardson first met 
Kigo, Hato, and Numu, lowlanders of southwest New Guinea who did not yet know 
what an airplane was though they had seen them flying, the Sawis and Don both 
extended their hands in greeting. The Sawis just touch fingers, but it means 
the same.

The high five, though, originated most likely around 1977 in some sport in 
America. The French Wiktionary has no translation, just a long definition. 
Several languages' Wikipedia entries use the English phrase as title.

Sounds good, and "jalsimgau" has been in jbovlaste for years.

This doesn't distinguish a high five from a low five. How about "mumgalco'e"?

Two people can xanjaisi'u walking down the street; it isn't necessary a 
handshake, or a greeting. "xanjairinsa" was entered in jbovlaste a few months 
ago.
