Think of 'mi' as in the same class as 'lo' phrases, "the salient ...".  Otherwise you will  get into all manner of paradoxes (as old as philosophy, for the most part) of no practical value.

That's not just the same issue, it's really the same thing, but phrased more precisely: "that which was "me"". But when we say "I did something", it's {mi pu ...}. This is the same {mi}, so {lo pu me mi ku} is just {mi}. I started writing some about the philosophical/language design issues here but ran out of time; I'll add to this later.
