Thank you for the comment. I'm aware that in CLL Lojban that would 
indeed be the right way to say it. However, I'm employing the 
cmevla-brivla merge in this text, so that's actually intentional on my 
part.

For anyone who would like to use a parser to verify the sentences in 
this translation, you can use this parser here, which understands the 
merge (plus some other things which don't come up in this text), and it 
also understands diacritics, so you can just copy-paste passages into 
it. I recommend the "Minimalistic" output option. Here's the link:

Also, this merge is the only thing that's experimental about this text 
(excepting a few uses of {si'au} and a single occurence of each of 
{be'au} and {mu'ei} and three {bi'ai}, so nothing major), and I'm hoping 
that this won't bother anyone. I don't find it a very obtrusive change, 
so you will hopefully be able to read it like any old text you're used 
to. Otherwise, I'd be happy if you would give the merge a fair chance 
and maybe come to appreciate some of its advantages. In any case, you 
will get a chance to see it used in an authentic context, which I think 
is useful for us to be able to adequately judge what it would be like to 
have the merge as an official part of the language.
