Re: [lojban] The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

Marvelous job (although I have yet to read it, just skimmed it a bit
here and there). But as a fan of all the forty official Oz books (and
many of the noncanonical works,as well) I am curious as to your
assertion that " They always move their jaws around as if they were
chewing". Where does it demonstrate that in the text?
I... think it doesn't say that in the text. I recall reading somewhere
that that was the reason for their name. Now I can only find a German
wiki article
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Figuren_des_Zauberlandes#K.C3.A4uer
Maybe it's explained in some of the other books or in a movie. I'm not
sure it's true, but there is no strong evidence in favor of *any* of the
explanations I've heard so far (which I mentioned in the mail you
responded to).
Here's a modest suggestion for their name -- macyckin(i) . Calls
to mind the falvor of the original, while having a relevant meaning, for
surely Dorothy marvels at their appearance (and they are in turned awed
by her).
That's a cute idea, but will it be easier to understand? It's not even
clear that it's referring to a person. What if you haven't read the
original?
I see you have kept the original Denslow illustrations, even those
that have drop words and letters, which obviously don't jibe with the
lojban. I'm curious. Did the German edition do that as well
I'm actually not aware of any German editions that have illustrations.
My grandmother read to me from the German version when I was around 7,
but I can't recall having seen any illustrations.
