*I* don't know that mekso is borked. I rather strongly suspect that we overdesigned it to handle *everything* that could be expressed in formulaic forms (because that was a fundamental requirement), and very few people know why much of the design is there (since rarely does anyone use more than one formulaic notation at a time).

A much simpler subset of Mex is what should be taught, leaving the bulk of it to deal with stuff that is rarely used, but retaining it for when someone wants to express APL (the programming language) in Lojban, compare Polish and reverse Polish notation schema, or to talk about combining "an exaltation of doves" with "a gaggle of geese".
