The only user I have tracked during this period who does not show this pattern is gejyspa, who posted a steady 250-275 messages from 2002-2004, and whose output actually peaked in 2006 with more than 400 messages. Like the others, however, he fell below 100 messages in 2007.

Actually, you won't find any output from me before 2005, so I'm not sure how you are gathering those stats.  I only found lojban then, while searching the internet for whatever happened to Loglan, which I had learned in the mid 1970s..

For me personally, my first contacts on irc were extremely negative.  Other than a very few people such as clsn and Adam Lopresto, I found the folks inhabiting it at the time very condescending, rude and dismissive.  Almost chucked lojban altogether.  Stayed off irc for about six months after that.  Stuck more the beginner's mailing list, where I found people like xorxes very willing to help newbies.

I changed jobs in 2007, no longer working from home,  so no longer had the time that I had previously to be active in lojbanistan.

Now e-mail hell is hitting me hard (I'm actually only up to reading June 19 email, but made an exception for this thread :-)
