Hi everyone,

As a non-native English speaker, I can't get the humour in the picture of Chapter 16 of CLL, as well as its caption ... Why there're dogs? Why mention 'example'?  And how is this related to the title of this chapter?

Thanks~

I'm not a native English speaker, but I would like to try to help you.

Section 7 of Chapter 16 includes some example sentences of "three dogs bite two men." The people in the picture ask John (Cowan, the author) to use other example (rather than dogs biting them) because they don't want to be bitten.

For your info that may help you in translating the Complete Lojban Language (CLL) into Chinese:

1. the whole content of CLL including Chapter 16 should be modified in the future version in order to conform the renewed official theory on quantifier called {xorlo}:
https://mw.lojban.org/papri/How_to_use_xorlo
I wrote a commentary on xorlo in a more understandable form:
https://mw.lojban.org/papri/gadri:_an_unofficial_commentary_from_a_logical_point_of_view

2. I participated the translation of CLL into Japanese:
http://ponjbogri.github.io/cll-ja/
My translation is only the chapters 3,6,9,12,15,18,21 of them, but I added many "notes by the translator" to my translation. Some of the notes, especially on the chapters 15 and 18 may help you much. If you don't understand my Japanese text, or machine translation from the Japanese text, don't hesitate to ask me in Chinese. My spoken Chinese is not very fluent, but I can read and write in Chinese without any problem.

The lines of the "notes by the translator" are tagged with "#" on each corresponding page.
