[jbovlaste] Re: crab

Agreed. I think one of the points of Lojban is to give as many words logical roots as possible. Why? We want to have a clue as to the meaning without having to look the word up in the dictionary. It can't be perfect, but if this aesthetic is ignored for a non-cultural word such as 'crab,' then Lojban will simply lose one of its advantages over many natural languages. I think most of us would rather not see this happen.

I'm am very much in agreement with this. I am very much against fu'ivla in general (, anyone who has read my posts RE:{lo sutra zerle'a cpidze} already knows my vehemence on this subject), and much prefer describing something in Lojban unless such is not possible.

The other jbovlaste entry for snail, by the way, is {cakcurnu}, "shelled worm".
