pol·i·tics, n. (used with a sing. or pl. v.)

3. political affairs: The advocated reforms have become embroiled in politics.

You suggest {jecyra'a} for this one - but I'm not sure why. {ra'a} is the rafsi for {srana} which means 'pertains/concerns'???

8. play politics.
a. to engage in political intrigue, take advantage of a political situation or issue, resort to partisan politics, etc.; exploit a political system or political relationships.
b. to deal with people in an opportunistic, manipulative, or devious way, as for job advancement.

These two are the ones that I was particularly interested in. Any suggestions?

Is anyone prepared to offer a new word for 'politics'? The only words I've encountered so far are {lo jecta srana} and {lo girvlici'e}. Neither seem to be quite right. Obviously, there are two kinds of politics. The narrow definition refers to the state, the broader to groups ( e.g. the office} in general. In both cases, we seem to be talking about activity-to-increase-power.
