I guess it depends on what the unfilled places are.

do facki lo cnino be mi
You discover something new to me.

do facki lo slabu be mi
You discover something already known to me.

In that case "cnino" does add something.

When people complain about Colombus "discovering a 'new' continent",
the complaint is that the understood sense is "new (to anyone that
matters)", i.e. to the Europeans. That's the point of view from which
Colombus discovered a new continent.
