I agree. That says you either 'do' or you try, but not both. So it
allows "try" as one of the options. But Yoda says that there is no
try, so how can "try" be one of the two options?

I'm fine with "troci na'i", but not with "snada jo snada". The meaning
of "snada" is intrinsically tied to that of "troci". "snada" and
"fliba" are the two possible outcomes of "troci". If you say that
"troci" does not apply, then necessarily neither do "snada" or
"fliba".

I propose "ko zukte .ija ko na zukte .i troci na'i".

"gasnu" means "make (someone) do (something)" or "make (something)
happen", I don't think it ever means "do", despite the keyword.
