Re: [lojban-beginners] how do you use sumka'i to refer to an outer bridi?

doi dan.

I know you didn't intend to lure me.  I purposefully misinterpreted your statement as though you had meant to make me feel ok with usage that not everyone agrees with.  In light of that willful misinterpretation, your suggestion to "use it responsibly" could likewise be misinterpreted as permission for me to go off and use said contentous usage.  By asking if this was a hazing, I implied that you did all of this to play a joke on me for the purpose of initiating the new-guy.

You did, in fact, take plenty of precautions.  I noticed, and jokingly pretended otherwise.  (hence the {zo'o / zo'onai} discursives.  Did I use them correctly?)

That explains all the content under my {zo'o} that could possibly offend.  And I apologize if I did offend you.  If there is any of the rest of my mail under the {zo'onai} that you didn't uderstand, I'll happily explain it as well!

As for {ka} vs {nu} being a question of semantics rather than grammer.  I agree.  I haven't decided what I believe regarding the semantic question, and so I haven't decided which convention of usage I want to use as a general rule.  Since I'm undecided, I'll stick with what's published {nu}.  That's what I've learned on thus far, and so it's what I'm currently comfortable with.  I admit, that as I use Lojban more and become more comfortable with it (as you and others have in IRC), then I'll likely use what's popular {ka}.

And thanks by the way for all the links you provided on my other post!  I feel like I've crawled all over that website (lojban.org) and yet somehow missed those pages!

Most helpful indeed!

zo'o Oh, I see how it is Dan.  Lure in the noob with the phrase "quite customary", strap a controversy to his back when he isn't looking, and set him loose on the board!  What is this a hazing?  .u'isai

It wasn't my intention to lure anyone. I thought "quite customary" and "not everyone agrees with this" was precautionary enough. I don't understand the rest of your mail.

... Especially when the grammer is already decided.

About English, I feel that it's ok if you break the rules of grammer and convention, as long as you know the grammer and convention, and you break it on purpose, to create an effect.

This is not a question about grammar (after all, {ka} and {nu} are in the same selma'o/part-of-speech). It is a question of semantics.
