Re: [lojban-beginners] cfika
ki'e casti is actually a typo I was aware of but which somehow persisted into this draft, and had been supposed to be zasti.
nanbakni was intended to be 'ox' by prefixing the rafsi for nanmu. Apparantly I was mistaken about the correct rafsi, which I now see is 'nau' instead of 'nan'. (Although I just plugged that into the translator and it comes back as 'reference point cow'. ?)
Does 'camdjan' come across as the intended 'Farmer John' or does it just look like a sound that could be a name?
Other than that, thanks for the comments, co'o mi'e xaujbes

("Casti"? What? I suggest "zasti" and "puku zasti lo nanbakni poi [ke'a] se cmene zo djeris")
(The [] means the word inside is not needed but is implied; I prefer explicit {ke'a} myself, but I'm pretty sure I'm atypical in that regard.)
nanbakni ki'a .i ta'i ma lo bakni cu snanu
("Nanbakni"? What? How is the cow to the south?)
..."I'm apart from all the other cows." The "other" is tricky, because he is not apart from all of the cows, being one himself. My suggestion is imprecise, and it is to simply use {lei bakni}--one or more masses of cows that I have in mind, in this case the mass of all the other ones on the farm.
The cow's "badri" sentence is ungrammatical; li'e expects a sumti after it to say what it is preceded by. To get that, you would say {mi badri lo nu go'i} or something similar; "I am sad about the event of the previous sentence", more or less.
I am not sure if {li'u} is elidable here; I am also not sure how elision of {.i} in actual texts (such as in the cow's sentence) works.
Again, {il'e} is not what you want in Shamjan's sentence. {lo nu go'i} might work.
I'll stop there for now...
