Perhaps this is the source of some misunderstandings. The way you
presented things, you seemed to be addressing not the Lojban community
in general but the LLG in particular.

Speaking for myself, I don't think the LLG would have anything to say about
a phonetic alphabet. But if Lojbanists interested in phonetics want to design
a phonetic alphabet or adopt an already existing one for use in Lojban, I don't
see any problem with that.

I'm a bit confused now; you indicated in another post that at least some
responsibility has been passed from the LLG to the BPFK...  which is which?

The BPFK is commissioned by the LLG to handle some language design
