This could also have some interesting implications for theology as well. I have heard it argued (from a Christian perspective) that the distinction between "natural" and "supernatural" is artificial; that when God performs a miracle (also 
makfa according to the definition), he is simply manipulating the universe in an atypical manner (he did after all, create it), which we can already do to a lesser extent with technology.
