[lojban] Re: Lindar is very nice to volunteer! (was Re: Re: smart.fm and fooling text-to-speech)

I'm putting the items into the lesson in alphabetical order. The lesson will be in alphabetical order. The purpose of the lesson is to learn the gismu, including the various places. It is not intended to be used in conjunction with any other learning materials.

It is possible- and rather easy, to put the same item into multiple lessons. It would not be difficult to, for instance, make a "Lojban for Beginners" lesson, and add the items in the "Lojban gismu" lesson to it in the order they appear in the "Lojban for Beginners" lessons.

The teaching programs in Smart.fm do not necessarily go in alphabetical order. The iKnow! program startsÂin the order that the items are entered in, but as you progress, the items that you remember better appear less often, while those you are having trouble with appear more often, without regard to the original order they appear in.ÂDrill Beta seems to be about the same as iKnow!, with minor differences.ÂBrainSpeed, which is a review program, never bothers with the order of the items, but merely chooses them at random.

I know this is a bit further down the line, but right now the smartfm words are learned in alphabetical order. What about making the order sync up with the order they're introduced in Lojban For Beginners (or whatever lojban-learning text people vote for)? This would make smart.fm a much more useful tool for people learning lojban from the chosen text.Â
Not as important for people who already know all/most of the lojban vocabulary, but really important for beginners.

I'm sorry, what are you talking about? ÂWhat program? ÂWhy would
Lindar run it; Lindar just dropped out? ÂI'm *totally* lost.

My question was intended to be a largely rhetorical shot at Lindar,
btw. ÂI'm assuming the next step is for either someone else to offer
to do the recording, or for us to just use espeak (possibly to
replace later).

Why did anyone even write tinyurl.com/smartfmgismu ? ÂI don't
understand why simplifying things for smart.fm is a good idea at
all, and even if it is, it can be done with a few minutes'
scripting, or pulling the data from jbofihe (which already has
phrases for all the gismu places).

If that's you volunteering, please feel free.
