.ua  Thank you for setting me straight on that point xorxes.... I still like the look of {.i} over {i} regardless of it's not being strictly necessary.  Probably for the same reason that Michael likes {i Mi klama} over {i mi klama}; namely that it's more eye-catching. :)

Be careful with that claim. It is possible to remove all whitespace,
but you must do TWO things first:

(1) Include all the otherwise optional dots.
(2) Include all the otherwise optional stress marking for brivla.

People tend to remember (1), but sometimes forget (2). You cannot
remove whitespace without including brivla stress marking.
