For reasons of symmetry there should be a short word for "xi nai".
Are there any unoccupied two-letter words for lojban ?

Subscripts appear to be more a fairly general means of attaching additional information or distinctions to grammatical words, rather than a representation of the typographical practice of subscripting.

The meaning of zo xi is analogous to the mathematical practice of subscripting. In mathematics superscripts are variously used for lo tenfa, repetitions of other elements than multiplication, and in ways similar to subscripts.

Such as "2³", which means "two raised to the power of 3".
