It appears, that the synfig studio project [1] is currently getting an
overhaul of their documentation with tutorials and stuff. It's what I
used to make the pinpedi short film and there's a project to make a
full-length anime movie [2] (with 3d effects, too) using synfig studio
and blender.

Synfig studio is free software and since most of us are big nerds, that
would be a huge plus, compared to the huge suck that is flash.

However, I completely lack the talent or patience to implement this kids
show in either flash (I've used flash 4 when I was a kid, but what came
of it was mostly shit) or synfig (which I used back in the day when
synfigs documentation was suck :) ), so my opinion is: If we can't find
anything to make it with synfig, we'll just have to settle for flash
instead: I'd rather have a flash movie rendered to a video file than
nothing at all!
