they say that we can only keep track of about 7 (+-2) things at a time, so perhaps 8 is the better base, supported by the high regularity of it's early decimals.

I certainly like 12 more than 10 for it's early prime divisibility, but if you're going ideal, you may as well be bold and go for 60!
