It seems there are many versions. The one I knew is "aramos dijo el
mosquito, al buey que partía el terrón", but I found one in English:
"And so we plough along, as the fly said to the ox" from Longfellow:

It says it's from "Chispa, in The Spanish Student, act 3, sc. 6
(1840)" so I wonder if Longfellow got it from Spanish.
