Not "passes through the north", but only that it was towards the
north.

Ennnnh.  Given this definition of carna, "turned to face X" seems
like it's just a carna / farna lujvo to me.

The big problem is how long it takes to explain it, but I think I
can fix that, and I'll perhaps attempt it tomorrow.
