Hi!
I want to start a little survey about how people
learn the basic vocabulary of Lojban. I do this just out
of curiosity, that’s all.

If you want to participate, just reply to this e-mail and
answer these questions:
1) Did you learn any Lojban vocabulary so far?

go'i

If you said “no”, the survey is done for you. If you said “yes”, go on:
2) How many of the gismu do you have memorized right now?

Around ~1100 - 1200 because the deck in Anki I used had only that amount. I'm not sure why not all have been included and now im too lazy to start a new more complete deck from  the beginning.

Note that I don't remember all sumti places in all those gismu.
I can't give u a quick answer on what this or that place means.
e.g. {se cusku} actually means "text" but it is even not glossed that way.

3) How many rafsi?

Well, {gau, ri'a, bi'o, sel, ter, vel, xel, nor, nar, tol} may be a 10 more. I dont remember them because I dont consider them worth remembering.

I perceive {nolraitru} as an inseperable word, i.e. no different from fu'ivla.

rafsi are good only fro mnemonic point of view. Just like fu'ivla.

4) And how many cmavo?

May be around 300. mekso and BAI are 2 examples of where I'm a n00b (I remember most frequent sumtcita including {gau, bai, ri'a, sepi'o}, though).

5) When did you start learning vocabulary?

When I first got acquainted with the language, probably around 2010 (at that time I had no desire to contact the community).

6) How often (roughly) do (or did) you learn?

In January 2013 i made an effectively succesful attempt  to learn ~60 new gismu every day using Anki. I never stopped until learned all of them. Now I dropped refreshing them in my memory. There are other ways of learning like e.g. just practicing the language.

7) On a regular basis?

practicing the language? probably yes.

8) Which learning tool or learning method do you use?

Anki for Android. There is offline Memrise for Android. I think Memrise is fine too. It all depends on what u'd like more.

Extra question for those who already memorized all gismu, rafsi and cmavo:
9) When did you “make it”? (a rough estimate)

mi pu'o mo'u tadni ro le valsi

Notes: I only talk about the _official_ gismu, cmavo and rafsi.
Knowledge of other valsi or rafsi is not relevant to this survey.
With “memorized” I mean something like: I throw you out of bed and ask you
“Quick! What’s the definition of ‘jalge’?” then you automatically,
while still not really awake, can say the correct answer.

Well, once again. I know what {lo jalge} means. I'm not that sure about {lo se jalge}. It requires me extra mental effort to translate it.
