We may be talking at cross purposes here. I'm not saying anything
about the pronunciation of the English name "Ryan", I'm sure you
know better than I how it is pronounced in English.

I was talking about the Lojban word {rain}. {rai,n} is a perfectly valid
syllabification of that word, as is any other. Syllabification is never
significant in Lojban cmevla.
