I like {rain} better, since the comma doesn't add anything

All Americans I've heard pronounce it "rai,n", so it seems
significant to me.

There again, some Americans want to render "Robin" as "rabn" ;-)

I can see that "ra'in" is different from "rain", but I can't see how "rai'n" is different. Is it the same as "rai'yn"?
