Indicators can be used after (almost) any word, or at the beginning of
an utterance.

When used after a word, they attach to that word, and their effect can
usually be determined from that attachment.

When used at the beginning of the utterance, their scope is normally
the following bridi.

"xu do tavla" is grammatical, meaningful, and a common way of asking a question.

That's quite correct. But this thread is about the translation of
isolated sentences, not about the construction of a text that includes
many sentences. It is grammatical to use ni'o/no'i/.i in front of an
isolated sentence, but it doesn't really add much, since there is no
context for the sentence to be a change of topic, the continuation of
a topic or a going back to some old topic.
