"ku" was the original terminator (or maybe it was "gu" in Loglan and 
became "ku" by a sound-change rule - I wasn't a Lojbanist then). Other 
terminators were added to make it easier to see what was terminated and to 
reduce the total number of terminators needed in the average sentence.

The RHS of GOI is a term, not necessarily a sumti, which makes possible some 
weird sentences, e.g. "le gerku goi ba ku cu batci le mlatu pe na ku".
