you're mishearing.
If "rut" was pronounced with a schwa, like [ɹət] (instead of [ɹɐt]),
it would sound like this:

If "cut" was pronounced with a schwa, like [kət] (instead of [kɐt]),

Also, "o" in "do" is [ʊ] (actually [ʊː]) - a sound better suited for
lojban {u}. "o" in "for" is better for lojban {o}.
