Re: [lojban] "Any" and {ro}

I asked about UI because neither {da} nor {lo} seem to be solving the problem.

Compare
"I respect you as a friend". Here we quantify over possible worlds/situations (in some of them you are my friend).
"Give me three apples from the basket". Here we quantify over the same world and the same situation but different objects in it.

{ko dunda fe i'u ci lo plise poi nenri lo va lanka} - give me three apples that I'm familiar with from that basket.
In guaspesque style it' ll be {ko dunda ci lo plise poi mi se slabu...} or similar
Other UI might be better in other situations.
E.g. {bi'unai} that is similar to English "the" when used for objects previously mentioned or known from context.

I must repeat that the solutions described in the CLL ({... da poi ... zo'u ... }) also work. But for another meaning of "any".

In this case, however, "any" works much like an antonym of "the" and a synonym of "a".

"Give me an apple" ~= "Give me any apple".

Sometimes it's not UI but rather VA.
{ko dunda fe i'u re vi plise}. A tricky example.
Imagine 10 apples in the basket. I'm pointing at 5 of them using {vi}.
Now "Give me three apples". So I'm narrowing down the apples that I want to 5 but it's up to you what 2 of them to choose. Unprecise selection, I'd say. Not quite "the", not quite "any".
In guaspesque style it'll be parallel to the previous example.
{ko dunda re lo plise poi jibni mi...}

Note that in English "the" and "this" can't take the same position in sentence.
