How about we try a community translation, so everyone can just translate
as much as they like or can, and then in the end it can be turned into a
single final translation.

That seems at least as good as any plan I can think of, so I have no objections. :)
In case it might help, I do know just enough Lojban to use the dictionary for simple words; so if you wanted to use 'one hundred miles north of Niagara Falls' instead of a generic placeholder, I can look up the actual words for the direction and distance once the translation is settled, thus preserving my preferred level of privacy about my physical location.
