So it sounds like it was more of a nu jmaji than a nu penmi.

So for you "ca li pabi" is always at 18 hours and never on day 18, but
I don't know if you can expect everyone to follow that convention.

Yes, that's one way to disambiguate, even with the 24-hour clock.
