After discussion on IRC it was deemed that having Lojgugde in space was a much cooler idea, and solved some problems of an Earth-bound show. The pilot episode plot outline's been rewritten (see https://docs.google.com/document/edit?id=1Figgelppx0xep5HC7GRConr445BHq3Oycb6uAB8tL2Y&hl=en_GB for current version, it's a much quicker read than you might expect). I've got as far as getting the characters into space but where and what they're heading to is still being decided. FWIW the show is probably going to lean more on sci than pure fi. kozmikreis

We'll be fine. Also, lorx is correct, they're connected N-S side by
side, and they counter rotate to provide limited maneuverability
without expulsion of mass. The living tube will be rotating clockwise
from the perspective of the sun, placing the actual sun at a northern
direction. As for the perceived sun from reflectors (if there is any),
I do not know. The agricultural tube will spin anticlockwise, causing
the sun to be south.
Can anybody figure the maximum population for 384sq km and then take
it down a few notches considering population density of each sector?
