The Apollo 11 crew reached the Moon in just over 3 days in 1969, and L1 is about 4 times the distance, so very simplistically about 12 days maximum. This doesn't take into account that probably half of Apollo 11's flight duration was deceleration on approach to the Moon whereas our characters would be whizzing on past and still accelerating.
Signals between Earth and L1 would take about 5.1-ish seconds each way, based on the Moon being 1.282 light seconds away from Earth and L1 being 4 times the distance.
