Re: [lojban] Lojban Wiktionary closure proposal.

Arguing that some Lojbanic words do not /need/ transating has nothing to do with whether Lojban needs a dictionary at all. While it is true that lujvo formed by combining the rafsi form of SE with a single gismu is "obvious" in its meaning, we still need a definition of the individual components. There's no point in arguing against the inclusion of certain valsi; Lojban most definitely needs a dictionary, that is the reason we have jbovlaste, vlasisku, etc. As far as which words should be included in a Lojban dictionary- there is no harm in being overly-complete and defining words which may not "need" to be, such as selta'i, but there is harm in being incomplete. It is better to have /all/ words and be assured that all users needs are met, then any other option.

In any case, the point of this topic is not to debate the need for a dictionary, nor which words should or should not be included. The purpose is ascertain whether we jbopre care about the existence of the Lojban Wiktionary sepcifically and it's possible (likely) impending deletion.

No.

A << concern >> is a word you cannot guess what it means without an
english dictionary

But a << selta'i >> you can, provided you know "se(l)" and "tatpi/ta'i"
