For Tatoeba.org this indeed might be an option.
General problems for ISO-fuhivla are:
1. No names for historical regions, Rome Empire doesn't have an ISO.
2. No names for ethnic groups although for countries and languages there are.
General problems for non-ISO fuhivla:
1. Rants are imminent.
2. Changing the name of e.g. a country by us will require others to fix it iin many cases: in Vivaldi browser, in tatoeba.org, in mediawiki localization strings etc.
