  They _can_ both mean the same thing, but the former is talking about
red tomatoes, and the latter is talking about tomatoish red things
(possibly, for example, comparing different sauces, or colors of
paint).  If I asked you to "pe'u do'u ko punji lo xunre tamca lo
salta" (please put a red tomato in the salad) and you responded "lo
xunre mo" (a red what?), I might, of course, respond simply "tamca".
I might respond "le xunre ba'e tamca" (the red /tomato/), or I might
respond "le xunre tamca po'o" meaning, "the only red thing in front of
you that's a tomato, not the red peppers, nor the red apples".
