It's close, at least in this case. He could just say "e'u do sipna". I
think "e'u" shows positive endorsment on the part of the speaker,
whereas "might as well" just shows lack of opposition.

But more importantly, "might as well" can be used for other than
second person agents: I might as well do this, they might as well do
that, so it's not just for direct suggestions. It shows an attitude
towards some event that may not necessarily be in the hands of the
listener.
