That is a possible solution, yes. It has been proposed before in this thread, and it's actually a usage I've never had anything against. I've used it in some texts myself. The reason why I didn't go for it here is that I felt like something was missing, but it's hard to pin down what. I will think about it. Even though it seems to be lacking something, it's very simple and it will (have to) do for the time being.
